The following are some accounts of notably successful students from Acorn House who have pursued their studies at a high level.
Pavandeep studied a two-year A Level course resulting in A* grades at A Level in Mathematics and Art, and A grades in A Level Further Mathematics and English Literature. Pavandeep is currently studying Economics at UCL.
Sunil studied for our one-year intensive A Level course. His A Level grades were: Chemistry A*, Mathematics A*, and Biology A. He is now studying Dentistry at Dundee.
Mahmudul studied on a one-year intensive A Level course, achieving Mathematics A*, Further Mathematics A*, Physics A. He went on to study Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College, London.
Abraaz studied GCSEs at Acorn and achieved 5 A* grades (Biology, English Language, Physics, Art & Design, RE) and 5 A grades (Mathematics, Chemistry, French, English Literature, ICT).
Jasmair studied on a two-year A Level course at Acorn College, achieving four A Level grades: Mathematics A*, Further Mathematics A*, Physics A, Economics A. He is now studying Mathematics at UCL.
Zohaib studied at Acorn on a two-year A Level course. His achievements at A Level were: Mathematics A*, Physics A*, Chemistry A*, Biology A. He is now studying Medicine at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.
The accounts below date from the period before the introduction of A* grades and hence mention only A grades.
Rajveer studied on a two-year A Level course achieving A grades in A Level Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, and a B grade in A Level Biology. He has now completed a degree in medicine at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.
Malik studied on a one-year intensive A Level course, achieving A grades in A Level Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Malik has now completed a degree in Dentistry at King’s College, London.
Nikita studied both GCSE and A Level subjects at Acorn. At GCSE level she achieved 6 A*, 3A and 1B grades. At A Level, Nikita achieved A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, along with A grades in AS Further Mathematics and AS Psychology. She has now completed a degree in Dentistry at King’s College, London.
Nisha studied both GCSE and A Level subjects at Acorn, consistently showing her flair for Mathematics. She achieved A grades in A Level Mathematics, Physics and Further Mathematics. Nisha completed a degree in Mathematics at Imperial College, London.
Harvir studied at Acorn on a two- year A Level course. She achieved four A grades at A Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics, gaining a place to study Mathematics at Imperial College, London. She was also awarded (by the examination board) the distinction of coming in the top 20 candidates for A Level Economics (out of a total of 6580). Harvir continued to excel and was awarded a first-class Honours degree in Mathematics.
Sanveer studied both GCSEs and A Levels at Acorn, gaining 7 A* and 3 A grades at GCSE and A grades in A Level Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Art. Sanveer has now completed a degree in Medicine at St George’s, London.
Karan studied on a two-year A Level course at Acorn College. Having previously missed out on his GCSE studies, Karan studied five GCSE subjects along with four A Levels. Despite this difficult undertaking, Karan achieved four A grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and I.C.T. This allowed him the opportunity to study Mathematics at UCL, where he gained a first-class Honours degree.
