Students who enjoyed and were good at Maths GCSE should consider taking maths A level. The A level builds directly on the GCSE and is most commonly sub-divided into core (pure) maths, mechanics and statistics. Students who are also taking A levels in physics should focus on mechanics in particular.
Maths is of course a rewarding subject in its own right, but is essential for careers in physics, engineering and architecture. Students taking A levels in the other sciences and/or economics, business studies, accounting or computing will find that the skills they develop in maths compliment their understanding of these subjects. Maths is considered a facilitating subject by the Russell Group of universities.
