I was proud and excited to open up the College earlier this month. The success of our students and the evidence of real progress and investment at Acorn House is inspiring and makes me feel optimistic and confident about the year ahead. Our A level results were once again very good this summer and we had an emotional day on A level results day with our students managing to take up places at universities throughout the UK. We are particularly proud of last year’s Head Boy, Anes who’s name goes onto our honours board with results of A*AAB in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. He will be studying Physics at Bristol University next year.
Not to be out done, the GCSE students produced our best results for some years with the 53% A and A* grades achieved by our first-time GCSE students a real highlight. Congratulations to them for their achievements and hard work.
We have been busy getting our existing premises ready for the start of term and there have been a few changes to the layout of the old building. I am certainly growing to love my temporary 2nd floor office! I am also delighted to announce that ‘phase-one’ of our redevelopment is due for completion this week and ‘phase-two’ will begin in earnest after that.
Students staff and visitors will notice changes an improvements throughout the coming weeks and months as we gradually expand and update our premises.
Finally, but most importantly, we welcome over 50 new students to the College for the coming academic year. We hope they are pleased with their choice and look forward to supporting them in their studies and university applications in the coming 12 months. Welcome back and good luck to all our students for 2015/16 - it’s going to be an incredible year!
