Head of Careers, Don Mason and I, had a great day with students from the lower sixth, upper sixth and one-year A level courses yesterday (September 24 2015) at the Medlink Medical Sciences Exhibition held at Kensington Town Hall on High Street Kensington (http://medlink-uk.net/medsciences/). The event is a great opportunity for students to explore the higher education and careers in medicine, dentistry and a vast range of other medical sciences careers.
No fewer than 27 of our students spent the day learning from institutions in the UK and throughout the world including:
- UCL, London
- King’s College London
- Milano University, Milan, Italy
- Nankai University, Tianjin, China
- The Royal College of Psychiatry, London
- GAP Medics
- The British Army
- St George’s University, Grenada, West Indies
Some of our students are making applications to medicine, dentistry and others this year, others are beginning to make choices for their applications in 2016. The seminars available on the day offering advice on personal statement writing, interview technique and making the strongest possible UCAS application proved very popular and extremely beneficial.
All in all the conference was well worth the short visit to central London and hugely enjoyed by all who attended. Some comments from our students included:
“I know know I really want to be a doctor”
“It was so helpful to learn about subjects as well as medicine and dentistry”
“I never knew some of these universities where possible for me!”
